Shirley thanks for the great dinner. Here are some flowers for you since I didn't bring any real ones. We went to visit Shirley from Ride A Good Horse. They moved to Creston which is only about an hour and half from us and I swear we saw them more when they still lived in Alberta. At any rate the plan was to take her some hanging baskets to put a little color in her life. I had to make the choice of my dog or the baskets.......... well no brainer of course Sage went, so instead here are some shots of the CGC baskets and what they look like today. These are some of the ones on the wall I can't get them all in one shot. That's it .......does it give you some ideas for next year.... oh no I need to add one more. You will recgonize this Shirley.
OK that's it for real. Later.

Alberta Blue Boys
Alberta Blue Boys. Sounds like the name of a band.
Here are a few shots of the youngsters being handled a bit. This is Jake, very crabby about the whole thing. He is having a growth spurt right now so he is a little discombobalated......is that how you spell that? I don't have my dictionary handy and I'm to tired to go look.Jake was quite unimpressed with the procedure. He is just a yr and 3 mths. It is time to work with him a lot as he is sporting a real attitude ......not the sweetest nature. He will come around though he is really friendly and smart so if we get a handle on him now he should turn out OK. I'm betting he is going to hit 16 hands, if he doesn't he will get close. This is Skookum,he is only 2 and he is having a growth spurt too. I'm starting to wonder just how big these horses are going to get. We aren't 20 anymore and I don't want to have to pack a cheat stirrup. Have you heard the expression "Admire the Tall and Ride the Small"there is logic in that.As much as these two look alike they are as different as they could be. Skookum has no attitude he just kinda goes with the flow. He is really layed back and so easy to deal with. Anyhow I guess time will tell as to how the boys turn out.

Sunday Challenge" Open Road"
These are a few places in and around the area I live. All pics were taken around the Wardner Bull River area. It is really nice out there, once I get driving out that way I realize how much I miss the area. Anyhow theses are my Sunday contributions. This first pic is called Steamboat hill, not quite the shot I was looking for but it will have to do. The second pic is the road I used to live on in Wardner, for those of you that don't know the area it is in the East Kootenays in BC, Canada.
This picture is taken of a dirt road that meanders off thru a hay field just outside of Cranbrook. It is a very pretty peaceful spot. Well that's all I've got I'm off to bed. Enjoy hope you all have a great day. Catch you tomorrow to see what delights you all left.
This picture is taken on the Bull River Rd and so is the next one.

Morphing Cabbage
Here are a few pics of some Ornamental Cabbage. I was quite happy when it was time for them to go outside, they just keep growing. I was nervous about being confined with them in a small space........I felt like if I turned my back on them I might get swallowed up. No just kidding but they are rather big huh. I planted these around the beginning of June or there abouts they were tiny little plants in a 2" pot. I had no idea.

Rain Rain Riding in the rain
This is Mattie and Jade(Sisters) This is Jade's second trip out. She is not all that interested in what's around her, she know's she doesn't like the cows( big joke ...her Sire is or I should say was a very good Cutting horse) oh well I guess it really does matter how they are brought up as well.
This last picture is Tucker. This was his first ride out with us.......does he look just a bit............ tuckered out.........ha ha . Strange picture hey what can I say it's taken in the back seat of a moving vehicle. Anyhow must run. Later.
These two big boys belong to Dave the Bay is Buster he is 6 the blue roan is Skookum some of you may remember Skook as a weanling. He was a plain looking fellow, he has grown.....and grown and grown.... I know it's not the best pic but he is 2 and a bit and he stands at 15. 2 hands and growing. He has gotten a lot more handsome as well. Not much phases him. He should turn out well for Dave.
While we were out at the new riding place we found this cool old bridge, we can't quite figure out why it's there. There is no water to go over or anything else that looks like it required a bridge but there it is large as life. It's been blocked off so no one makes the attempt to go across. You probably could on foot but why would you want to????

New Place to Ride
Well I went on my maiden trip with the new trailer( with a horse in it that is) and went to a new place to ride. It looks like you can go for a long time and all over the place YAHOO I get tired of going to the same old places. Decisions decisions which way to go, I think I will let Sage decide. She chose to go right so right it is.
Here's a little bit of the scenery out that way. It was very enjoyable to see the view up closer ,usually you see it off in the distance.
I took my camera so I would be able to get some cloud shots. I got some kind of neat ones but you have to wait until Sunday cause that's are next challenge. Anyhow we made it back in one piece well kinda. My backside feels a little fractured. I haven't been out riding for quite awhile so......well you know what happens. Poor us I'm gimped all over the place, my dog is still wrecked from her run in with the giant rock and Mattie is so out of shape ......it goes on and on. Who was it that said the Golden Years are wonderful........You know what I say .ull .h.t Anyhow on with the trip.Everyone is tired and happy to be back good thing it wasn't a long ride. Here is a nice head shot of Mattie, you can see from the pic her mane is blowing in the wind.... the shot I couldn't get the other day. The breeze was great kept the bugs away.
I just have to show you a pic of my crabby horse she made me take about 30 pics to get one decent one. She did not appreciate having to earn her keep not one little bit.
Well folks that's it for this post. It's been awhile since you've seen a horse on this blog.

Sunday Challenge " The Elements"
Sorry guys didn't get much. I caught this the other day, we had a dandy of a storm it was actually kind of scary it was so loud lots of thunder and lightening and hail.......in between bursts of heavy rain. My dog was so terrified I thought she was going to make herself sick. So I guess this shot is Earth and Water.

Sunday Challenge "Fences"
I didn't have time to go on the hunt for odd and unusual so I made do with what was very close.....so many fences so little time. This one is different, it is a Cotoneaster hedge makes a pretty good fence doesn't it.This one belongs to a gated community. It looks nice in this picture but it could sure use a paint job.
Good ole stand by rail fence. That's it for me guys. I need to get to bed .....up early....reallllllly early. I look forward to looking at everyone's stuff when I get home. Have a great day.
