Enough Already!!!!!

Well this is what it looked like out there this morning, it's starting to look like a theme......come on enough already. I think the 10 or so nice days we had was Spring, Summer and Fall. It's a little tough to run a seasonal business when the weather is like this, believe me no one is breaking down the door to get plants etc. Oh well what can ya do.

Sage didn't seem bothered by the snow, I don't think she's bothered by much as long as she can do horse patrol. Well have to go. At least I get to work somewhere warm and dry wahoo. Have a great day and I hope the sun is shining in your world.

Sunday Stills Challenge "Barns"

This is the outside of my barn.

Now I will take you on a little tour of the inside. I really like this barn but it isn't finished. The previous owners of the property built it, once it was to this stage they left it this way. That's ok though because it is very functionable, we have used it a lot since we have been here. I am spoiled now, if we ever move again I will not be happy with anything less than this(don't I sound like a spoiled brat)Anyhow back to the tour....here we go. This is some of the stuff in my barn. This is Mattie. Mattie is a 7yr. old Morgan Mare, she's in the barn waiting to get her new feet. They were cold this morning so we threw a blanket on her and let her warm up a bit. This is Dave and his horse Buster. See how he's looking at the equipment, don't let the look fool you he was well behaved.
I just had to take this one, Vern was working so hard I had to give him a hard time. OK enough of that. I took these pictures without cleaning the barn first so you are getting an authentic look.It is usually not so well...authentic.

I just had to add the cat ....really what barn doesn't have a cat. This cat is a ghost no one ever sees him except maybe as a blur as he's running away. His name is Mikey and he's just a tad anti social. He likes my attention though so he follows me to the barn all the time, this cat has an incredible motor he's purring a mile a minute before you even touch him. Well guys this is turning into a book, so this is the grand tour of my barn it is well used and muchly appreciated.Well I'm done, hope the rest of your week -end is good. Later.

What Season Is This?

This was the Sunrise on Thurs.morning. If you look at the pasture you will see there is no snow, it is starting to green up out there nicely. It might be to dark to see but trust me ....no snow. This is what it looked like on Fri. morning, well not quite there was some pathchy snow but it looked like this when I took the pics in the early afternoon....go figure... anyhow I thought it kind of made for an interesting shot. I wish this weather would make up it's mind. Well that's it for now. See y'all on Sunday. Have a great day wherever you are.

China Wall (Purple Canyon)

Here are some shots of the scenery at the China Wall. We went riding on Sunday with the Back Country Horsemen (BCH). We split up into three different groups 1 going really steep 1 steep and the rest of us on a more relaxed route. The China Wall is a nice place to ride but if your animals are not in condition I recommend the more relaxed route. We were to meet at a designated spot for lunch, however we never saw any of the other people again that day...so much for a group get together. We had one lady with us and her husband went on a tougher ride guess who was carrying their lunch....yup she was, I would guess the rest of his group took pity on him and shared. Apparently the big group got lost....huh huh we had their fearless leader with us. I bet next time we go they opt to stay together. We had a good ride anyhow, the weather was a bit fickle, not much sun and lots of wind. I got a windburn on my face. We saw lots of sheep they were not very afraid of us, we were riding right up on them. There were Elk and deer everywhere. This area has become quite popular....lots and lots......of Mountain Bikers not so great on narrow trails.

This Mule insisted on having his picture taken so here he is. This guy stepped into every one of my shots so finally I just gave in and took his picture. This was the Mule Moxie was leading.
Jean was trying to get pics of her Mules but the ham was horning in on the action.Herb and Moxie and..... you got it the Mule.
This is Dave and Buster, Jean must have been telling him a good story. Last but not least two ladies I'm not sure what their names are.....I am terrible how do you ride all day have lunch with and not ever find out their names. And guess what? there is the hind end of that darn Mule, boy he sure knows where the camera is, there was no way around him. Well fellow bloggers this is the longest post I've ever done hope you were entertained, I'm going to bed it's 1:00 am here, it has been a long strange day. I am not looking forward to the scenery outside my door when I get up. We went from Cloudy - Sun- Rain - Snow and oh no the snow stayed. Good -night.

Moxie Update

It was my good fortune to go on a ride this week- end where I was lucky enough to see Moxie. She has been in her new home for a month or so now. As much as I regret letting her go, it definitely was the right decsision.

After watching Moxie on the trails for a few hours I was really questioning that decision ,she is absolutely brilliant I was so proud of her. Moxie is all business and really enjoys her job. I believe she is enjoying everything about her move. Moxie was the underdog here, all the other horses just hated her and always kept her from the group. I always felt sorry for her because she had no friends and spent most of her time by herself. The fella that owns her now has Mules and Moxie is ruling the roost, she has put them in their place and she is loving every minute of it.
It would appear that Moxie has finally found her niche,I am so happy that she has finally settled into what has proven to be her forte. It hurt my feelings a bit that she doesn't miss me....I'll get over it. Moxie has picked her person and seems to be a lot happier where she is, her new owner appears to be happy with her too. Alls well that ends well.

It's a Dog's Life

This is Sage with her favorite toy.

This is Sage .....not looking any to sweet.....Tucker thinks he is going to have her toy.
Having given up on the toy Tucker has decided to go to his man toy instead.
It's no wonder Sage is not too keen on sharing her toys....Tucker has ruined every toy she has.....I wouldn't want to share either.

Sunday Challenge "The Color Red"

Bye Bye to this implement for another season thank goodness.Spring is here at last.............I'm cheating this is in my Greenhouse not outside.....yet
Brand new paint job on the fire hydrant. I have to say it's an improvement, the hydrants in this town were all painted with bavarian type faces etc....they were quite odd....I think the powers that be thought it was quaint......not!!!!!but that's just my opinion.
This one was hard,I had a tough time catching it unfurled of course the wind wasn't helping.

Tucker and the Quad. He wasn't all that keen on having his picture taken...he looked everywhere except at me.

Just Another Day On The Farm

Boys and their toys. Dave was going to go and harrow the field.....but he found some die hard snow and went ahead and got stuck in it. I got a good chuckle but I got an even better one when he got himself out and I took this picture.

The fields look so much better now...all clean and tidy, now we just need some grass to grow.

Friends having their dinner together. And here's Dave and his friend Tucker having a moment of relaxation. Ahh!!! just another day day on the farm.

And that's it for this post. I'm looking forward to this weeks challenge hope to see you on Sun.

Sunday Challenge" Animal Husbandry"

In the distance you can see the Fence Maintenance Crew
Leaping from the rock we have Pest Management in action.

Looking relaxed .....she's not really......Herd Control and if the pest controller gets any closer she may have a go at that too. What you can't see in the pic is Sage's ears, she is very tuned in even though she looks zoned out.
In this pic you can see all the upper management taking a break. They all hold such important stressful jobs that the breaks are numerous.

Sage In Motion

Ok you guys this is my first attempt at actual motion. I have been doing more things with my camera ever since discovering the Sunday Challenges, this is thanks to Shirley over at Ride A Good Horse. Shirley's blogs have inspired me to be more committed to keeping mine updated and also her abilities with a camera awe me. I have no illusions of being that good with the little contraption, however I have been trying harder to get better pictures. To all the bloggers out there that participate in the Sunday Challenges I find your photography skills and your creativity mind boggling with that said hope to see you all on Sunday.

Feeding Time

Shirley from Ride A Good Horse came for a little visit and while she was here she took a short video. For some reason when I do that mine won't upload, let's see if hers did. I have tried a number of times to get a video up and to no avail. We will see if she has the magic touch here too. Well I guess she does. Now will it play........
