Visitor In The Night

While we were watching a movie on Fri .night we heard a fairley loud bang out on the porch. Dave decided to investigate, out the side door he went, he didn't go far when I heard him shout hey! get out of here. He stood by the door for a bit and said come and look at this

This Buck had been standing pretty much right outside our Living room window munching away on my old dead hanging baskets. When Dave shouted at him he didn't go far. He stepped off the porch and just stayed there. When my suprise wore off I jumped into action, running all over the house looking for my camera. I thought for sure he would have taken that opportunity to slip away into the night. I'm wondering if he thought he stayed really still we wouldn't know he was there. I was standing about 5 feet away from him. He didn't even bat an eye when the flash went off a half dozen times .....right in his face.

This is not the first time I've heard things out on the porch at night, I used to think it was the cats. I don't think I will ever be brave enough to open the door and step out like Dave did......it might not always be something so friendly????? After kind of posing for me, he turned around and walked across the yard and through the carport like it was his own.

Wow! Great opportunity; that buck sure looks fat and sassy. Maybe he has your summertime hanging baskets pegged for munchies....

How wonderful!
I know they are pests, but they are also so elegant.

I don't mind the deer so much. I don't have a whole lot that they can get after. They don't bother the Hay so I don't mind having them around. We used to get harrassed by Elk at our other place, very destructive animals. I don't miss them.

What a neat opportunity to visit up close. As long as he stays away from your garden/flowers in the spring and summer. Sunday morning I caught our local twin fawns grazign under my window bird feeders while their mom was out back dumping another feeder out on teh ground. Its a loosing battle so I just enjoy watching the deer instead of the birds. But they've never come onto my porch! They little guy had some spunk!
