Look Who Came A Call'n

I was just about to do the morning bathroom thing when I spied this guy gliding along the corrals that hook up to the barn. I forgot all about going to the bathroom, I snuck outside still wearing slippers with camera in hand. I tried to be quiet but I still made some noise,he was right up beside the barn in the shadows, i thought I had missed him. He almost ran away when he saw me pointing my camera at him, he turned to go and then changed his mind and just looked at me for awhile. I think the camera noises were making him a bit nervous.

He decided he was in the wrong place, he wasn't too sure who to keep an eye on Sage or me. He walked a ways away and stopped on top of the hill, I thought for sure he was going, he turned around and stared at us for awhile and then made his way back the way he had come......brave little cuss. The horses didn't care that he was there and Sage just watched him and waited for me to tell her to do something about it. I didn't bother, maybe I should have.......if he comes back and eats my cats....I don't think I would be feeling so charitable.

Now that I'm looking at the pics I see what a healthy specimen he is, he has a very nice coat...must be getting good munchies somewhere....he's not all that small either. Well that's it gotta go Greenhouse calling. Have a Nice Day.

arnt' they beautiful animals? You got some good pictures of him! I think coyotes may be one of the animals I admire the most, for their ability to adapt to so many situations. I also find myself torn between loving a creature of nature, and resenting a rancher's tormentor. Still, I would have done the same thing you did, snuck out with camera in hand and watched.

He is a handsome one. I wouldn't mind them except they can be terrible around calves . Rather see them at a distance or in photos. Winston chases them off pretty effectively

Pretty boy. Coyotes don't bother horses mostly. People are always paranoid a coyote is gonna chase the horses. The truth is a horse is much too big for a coyote to take down. Ours aren't bothered, even when you can hear them howling and yipping 10 feet away from the pasture at night in all directions.

He is handsome. And in fine fiddle. You did a good job with the camera and he really isn't all that shy.

He thought about leaving a couple of times. i was going to try for closer but I'm pretty sure he would have run away.

Great shots! He looks healthy and I hope he stays clear of someone with a rifle..:-)

I guess that someone with the rifle would be me! They are pretty, but I'd prefer they stay away from our place...don't trust them any farther than I can spit. They've never bothered the horses, but they play hell on calves, chickens, dogs and cats...

I've lost a lot of cats over the years to coyotes, so I like to chase them off. Well, except for Midnight Coyote!
Great photos, Janice!

Those are excellent photos of a coyote, Im not sure I woulda gotten them, instead tried to chase him away, even though I know they dont bother too much. The most they bother is to irritate our dogs.

We hear them howling at night. I think they have eaten most of our rabbits. Chance barks at them ..You got some great photos..:)
