Riding Trip
This post is for the fellow bloggers that would like to come riding in the Rockies. These are a few shots of the area we would be camping / riding in. Trust me these pics do not do the area justice .....not even a little bit. This place is called the Galbraith and it really is something, there is a vast riding area that will accomadate all levels of riders and to which degree of challenge one is up for. The camping area is nice with a decent outside toilet and the river runs right alongside the camping area. This is the communal corral it is well made ....good and strong. After riding all day in the mountains most horses do not even test it to see how strong it may be.

I just had to put this one in. This is Sage checking out gophers. We were up at the Guiders camp having a rest and she was keeping herself busy(as usual)This pic is from last year and I didn't get to go with the group this year so I am ready and chomping at the bit to go again.
This is truly a beautiful place to go and ride....so if you can.... do not pass up on this chance to catch a little piece of heaven.

Another New Place To Ride
I was able to go riding on Sat for a few hours. It was to be an all day ride with some of the Kootenay Backcountry Horsemen but I couldn't do the all day thing but hey something is better than nothing. We were riding in an area that I was unfamiliar with, it is out in the Wasa Lake area. We started out our ride with some very iffy weather conditions. It was cloudy but not bad ,before we got off the road to the trailhead the wind picked up. The horses and mules started acting a bit goofy. After a while everybody settled in, we had been riding for about 20 min to a half hour when the hail hit.....and boy did it come down. That's what you can see on the ground,I took a shot of it when it was really coming down but it really didn't turn out. I discovered my little mare does not like riding in a hail storm
This is a shot of some of the scenery across from where we were riding.

This pic is of a little lake we came across, for the life of me I can't remember what they said the name was.
After riding for an hour or so I had to turn back...other commitments....don't ya just hate that life interfering with what you really want to do....oh well. I was able to follow our tracks back most of the way, there were quite a few places where I lost the tracks and had to search a little bit.( I have a tendency to get turned around when I'm on my own) All in all it was a really nice ride. My horse was a real doll when she had to go on her own, she reminded me on that ride why I keep her. ( She can be a real ? when she wants to be) On my way back I ran into some fellow KBCH just on their way out. This is Marcel with the Paints and his friend on the Bay. We chatted for awhile, Marcel had just purchased the black and white , boy he is a beauty he will do well with this one he's a four year old that has been well started but never been in the bush. He was so calm and willing. Good deal there Marcel.

China Wall (Purple Canyon)
Here are some shots of the scenery at the China Wall. We went riding on Sunday with the Back Country Horsemen (BCH). We split up into three different groups 1 going really steep 1 steep and the rest of us on a more relaxed route. The China Wall is a nice place to ride but if your animals are not in condition I recommend the more relaxed route. We were to meet at a designated spot for lunch, however we never saw any of the other people again that day...so much for a group get together. We had one lady with us and her husband went on a tougher ride guess who was carrying their lunch....yup she was, I would guess the rest of his group took pity on him and shared. Apparently the big group got lost....huh huh we had their fearless leader with us. I bet next time we go they opt to stay together. We had a good ride anyhow, the weather was a bit fickle, not much sun and lots of wind. I got a windburn on my face. We saw lots of sheep they were not very afraid of us, we were riding right up on them. There were Elk and deer everywhere. This area has become quite popular....lots and lots......of Mountain Bikers not so great on narrow trails.

This Mule insisted on having his picture taken so here he is. This guy stepped into every one of my shots so finally I just gave in and took his picture. This was the Mule Moxie was leading.
Jean was trying to get pics of her Mules but the ham was horning in on the action.
Herb and Moxie and..... you got it the Mule.
This is Dave and Buster, Jean must have been telling him a good story. Last but not least two ladies I'm not sure what their names are.....I am terrible how do you ride all day have lunch with and not ever find out their names. And guess what? there is the hind end of that darn Mule, boy he sure knows where the camera is, there was no way around him. Well fellow bloggers this is the longest post I've ever done hope you were entertained, I'm going to bed it's 1:00 am here, it has been a long strange day. I am not looking forward to the scenery outside my door when I get up. We went from Cloudy - Sun- Rain - Snow and oh no the snow stayed. Good -night.
