It's A Dogs Life

No Sunday challenge for me this Sunday the challenge is Photoshop. I don't have any of those programs . I was going to try a few just with my editing program and discovered it looked like I was copying Shirley over at Ride A Good Horse so instead I did this post instead. I find our dogs lollying about and quite frequently think how nice it would be to be one of them.

Uhhhhh all scrunched down on my hay bale, can't blame them for that it was -15. Isn't it funny how that sounds cold, before celsius we never would have thought it was cold yet........just goes to show how we get conditioned to think a certain way. Anyhow back to the dogs.

The expression on Tucker's face .....so sad he is missing his owner.

Look at that face. It is expressions like this that have me wrapped around this dogs little paw. Who with a heart could say no to her?

I want to be my dog, she is much more spoiled than the other two ,she gets to be in the house....all the time, she gets to have toast for breakfast with me every morning......must be nice, the only work she has to do is bring the horses in for me and anyone with a Border Collie knows she doesn't think it's work!!!!!
Satisfied job well done....looking for more. Well that's it for me. I'm really late feeding and all the critters are looking at the house waiting impatiently, unfortunetly I don't have a dogs life and I better get to work. Later. I will go check on all the other challengers stuff to see what they came up with. If you want to see some cool photography go to Sunday Stills Challenge.

It Is Official

So this is what it looked like on Tues. Morning. Dave went into town before he left for his out of town job and paid for tires so all I had to do was go get them put on.....good timing because even though the snow was gone before the day was over... the following pics show what is happening on this day.

So this dreary picture is what our place looked like this morning. Everyone says it will melt and warm up, I'm not buying it. Yes it may melt but it is not going to stay gone for long. It is official, winter is here. We don't seem to get actual season's anymore they just kind of pile on top of each other without much distinction.
Poor plants I just watered and dead headed them on Mon. Now they will be coming down.....now there is no doubt as to what is coming. I'm already depressed and we have a l..o..n..g... way to go.
This was the oh so weak attempt at a sunrise. I hope to see much more impressive ones than that this winter.
The wood shed is now full of snow but that's ok it will be pulled out of there and used before it ever really gets wet.
Mikey wasn't all that impressed with having to walk across a large expanse of snow to get to his warm kitty bed on the porch, which really doesn't look all that warm .....what with all the snow that blew across the deck.

I'm not sure if you can see the expression on Sage's face (but you can see the body language) it looks exactly how I feel, I am so not a winter person.......it is the beginning of long wet ho hum days. Tex didn't mind the snow he knows his breakfast is on the way and that it will be nice and warm.(he gets a mash because he's old and he loves it)
Well that's it for me and my gray day.....or should I say white.......heavy sigh!!!! Well fellow bloggers I hope you all have a wonderful day and no matter where you are snow stay away.

Sunday Challenge 'Happiness is"

OK this one was way harder than I thought it would be. Ed said this would be an easy one it is whatever makes you (me) happy. With all the horrible things going on in the world it doesn't seem right to be happy but these are all things I can't change so I try not to get too down dwelling on them. I think what makes me happy is the simplicity of my life, so what I came up with is the things in my life that keep me grounded and ......well simple.......in so doing making me happy. Creating colorful baskets and gardens keeps me busy and always looking for something new.
How could this smiling face not make a person happy. I get this greeting every day and without fail it puts a smile on my face.
Spending time with grandchildren

A grandaughters first time on a horse now that has to make one happy or how about the smiling happy face of a grandson .....who always appears to be happy ...it rubs off.Having this little horse in my life for 30 years, I can't even put into words the countless hours of happiness this big hearted little gelding has brought to my life, that is a story for another time.

My little black mare that I look forward to seeing every morning.
The absolute freedom to go do this whenever I want.
Strange skies in the morning and strange skies at night.
I think this photo speaks for itself.

This is the man who shares in some of my simple pleasures.

These photos are in no particular order of importence......they are all of great value to me.

Well fellow bloggers I'm sorry for the book length post, I did say I found this one difficult. So I guess you can tell from the photos I lead a very simple life and that simplicity is all it takes to make me happy.I look forward to wandering through your posts in the morning. Have a great day and Be Happy!!!!!!!

For Ed (Cooking in Texas)

Ed this post is dedicated to you in the hopes that it might cool you off a bit. These pics are from last year but it will look like this soon .......all to soon. If I could even see the Mtns right now they probably already do. I was looking for my pics of the ski hill which looks like it is right in my horse pasture..... another time. The reason I wanted to find them is because Ed says he loves winter ......to each their own I won't hold it against him( he must be crazy!!!!!!!)

Anyhow back to my rambling I wanted to put up those pics because most people that enjoy winter, ski - skate or what have you. Twice in my life I have found myself living below a Ski Hill I find that odd. I don't ski. At any rate here's some more cooling off for you.

I am not a winter person however that doesn't mean I enjoy hot or extreme temps either. If I could have a happy medium I would be very happy where I live. . A little of here a little of there mix it all together and you would have my perfect weather. Well Ed I'm sorry your a little warm hope this cooled you down some. Later have a great day in spite of the heat........

Oh No! Not Yet!

Well it happened I knew it had to but not yet. Today is the first day of snow. Thank goodness it will not stay.
Even though this one is fuzzy I used it so you could see the size of the snowflakes up close. If this was really winter and the snowflakes were coming down like that we would have a lot........ and I mean a lot of snow in a short period of time. Our first winter here I went to bed with a little bit of snow from previous snowfalls and woke up to a whiteout - 2 feet of fresh snow, it was a mess. Of course Dave was working away from home then. I didn't get my animals fed until 12:30. I was madder than a wet hen. When Dave phoned that night I was not a happy camper, it didn't matter that it wasn't his fault, I started on a tirade I'm sure lasted for minutes - Why did we move here - I hate it here - well I'm sure you get the gist of it. Poor man I really am lucky, he rolls his eyes and fixes my issues and never says anything ......well hardly ever says anything. From a distance Dave managed to take care of the snow problem but by then after spending 5hrs on the tractor I already had most of the problem solved. I still appreciated the effort though. Well that's my snow story must run and get the chores done. have a great day everyone and I hope you are not getting snow.

Dave's Adventures

This is Dave on a ridge in the Elk Valley doesn't he look happy out there. Dave went backpacking for a few days and decided the better way to go was with the horses.
Dave went on a whirlwind tour of the area......I think he was just trying to get away from home. He went to the Elk Valley first, this is Connors Lake
Then he went out behind the Bull River in the Galbraith and spent a few days out there, the scenery out there is breathtaking.

Here he is in the company of Indy( the buckskin) Skookum his 2yr old in early training in the ways of the mountains........ no he is not packed just a saddle so he gets used to it. Sadow and Tucker were also along on this trip a good time was had by all. Well late start this morning must run. Have a great day.
